There are three things I wanna do before I die. 1) Train a crow to bring me shiny objects. 2) Find true love. 3) Write background music for a futuristic gun shop located in a dystopian, pixelated metro slum. I figured #3 would be easiest so I went on a perilous adventure to find the perfect gun shop, using my computer. After wading through an unending mire of ads and subscription offers, I found a pixel art indie game called ENERGY SEEKERS being developed by an artist known as PixelHeadAche on Newgrounds. He is an amazing pixel artist and created concept art for "Tak's Gun Shop" that inspired me. So I reached out and asked if I could use his art, and the answer was YES!!! This song is the result.
For this song, I really wanted to focus on harmony, melody, song structure, making a dynamic arrangement, and creating some feel good, groovy vibes. It's based on a hip-hop type sketch I had lying around which reminded me a lot of a cyberpunk merchant's shop, so I ran with that for my overall theme.
I used the time extension to rework the mix a few times. I'm still learning so much about mixing, so any feedback regarding the mix or anything else will be highly appreciated.
